Thanks chris.

Answer
Chris,

If you are not getting the signal to the coil to collapse the field (fire the plug) would mean the distributor itself if defective.  Usually, there is a seal in the distributor that fails and that allows oil to wick up the shaft and coat the optical shutter wheel and the LED pickup and receiver and this kills the signal to fire the plugs.  Pull the distributor and disassemble the cover and you will probably find oil.  If you do replace the unit with a rebuilt one.
