Nissan Repair: remote starter, prostart remote car starter, remote car starter

Question
Hey I just bought a prostart remote car starter from Canadian Tire and was planning on installing it my self. I have a 2004 1.8s Nissan sentra and my question is do you think i would need a bypass module and the instructions mention relays and diodes, are these necessary and what do i need them for? also could you give me any advice tips? thank you very much.

Answer
Andrew,

Without the bypass module the car will refuse to start since you need the key to be present for the fuel pump to run.  Also, the diode will protect the computer so current will not backfeed and damage your electrical system.  The relay is to allow for increased voltage that will be required for the system to activate the starter and to unlock your doors.  If you have a manual transmission car I would not install the system.  All that has to happen is the car is in gear and starts and runs into something.  But, if yours is automatic go for it.  Email me back if you need more.  I would suggest a Haynes Manual for a wiring diagram to make it an easier install.
