Nissan Repair: 1995 Pathfinder, carquest, viable option

Transmission won't go into reverse. Is this this going to progressively affect other gears? Any idea, need trans replaced or repair a viable option? Thanks

Hi Issac -

usually the first gear to go is reverse, because it is a very high gear. Assuming that your fluid level is fine, yes, you will need a trans overhaul.

One thing you can try first is an additive called AT205. In my 16 years as a mechanic, I have found this additive to be very effective, seen some that had actualy brought the transmission back from a "no shift" condition. They sell it here in Hawaii at Carquest. Don't know if you have one there, but you can probably Google it. Try it.
