Nissan Repair: Maxima door locks, phillips screwdriver, key fobs

Question
My power door locks have stopped working.  I have a keyless entry system and the power window function and trunk lock still work on it.  When I press the door unlock button on the drivers door, I can hear a clicking from underneath the dashboard. Could it be a bad switch on the unlock button or is there some type of servo that attaches to the door lock?

Also, I use to have a key fob for the car and lost it. I was told by a vendor that key fobs were not produced for Maxima's until 1995. Is this correct?

Answer
Russ,

If your car does not have a factory remote you will need to take your remove a part to find out what the brand is and check on ebay or your local stereo alarm installer.  I would almost bet the problem with the locks is the master switch on the driver's door.  That will take down the whole system where neither the remote or the lock button will work the locks.  courtesyparts.com or rockauto.com are both good sources for a new master switch.  The dealer is about $100 bucks and the other places are in the range of $65 bucks.  Your choice on where to get one.  An easy replacement with only a phillips screwdriver needed to do the replacement.
