Nissan Repair: Tyre Marks, tyre marks, wheel alignment

Question
Hi

I have a Nissan Pulsar, built in 2000. The problem: it puts dark tyre marks on the drive way. why is so? Does it need wheel alignment or the replacement of tyres.

Please advice.

Answer
Eddie,

Since it is summer in the United States it must be winter in Australia?  If the weather is not hot then the tyres must be a soft compound or decomposing?  This is said since the weather is not hot.  Now, if you drive on asphalt and then on concrete this can contribute.  I have a concrete driveway and the nice city used a slurry on the street and I have had nothing but marks on my drive since.  An alignment should not be the problem.  Check the treadwear rating on the tyres and if it is under 300 you probably have soft compound tyres that would allow for marks.  If the tyres are not over six years old and you can live with the marks just run them until they need replacement.
