Nissan Repair: 1999 Frontier Turn Signal Switch, turn signal switch, steering wheel

Question
How do I replace the turn signal switch? Is it just remove the steering column cover, remove and replace? Is there any danger of activating the air bag? How do I remove the cover?
My problem is frequently the turn signal will go into a rapid clicking when the left signal is turned off. If I push the stalk up slightly, it will quit. I think it is a worn switch. Does that sound right?
Any advice is appreciated. If this should be done by a dealer or certified mechanic, please let me know.
Thanks,
Burt

Answer
Hi Burt

You are correct. The turn signal switch is replaced by removing the plastic housing over your steering column. That should be about 5 philips screws. Then remove the harness connection on the side of the column, and the switch, I think 2 10mm bolts.

There is no danger of activating the air bag unless you are removing the steering wheel.

Hope this hslps -
