Nissan Repair: Tyres width, risk damage, turning radius

Question
Hi!
I'd like to find out,if I can fit 17''alloys with 205-40-17 tyres without making any modifications onto Nissan Primiera 1997

Answer
Paul,

I would say yes if the offset on the rims is correct.  However, I would say to go with 50 series tyers to have some give.  40 series tyres are really pushing it for the street.  That is, if you hit a pothole or a speed bump you risk damage to the rims. If you are using a shop I would have them trial fit for interference on the rims and for turning on the front.  Also, they can adjust your turning radius to mitigate interference with the stop bolts on the lower control arm and the spindle.
