Nissan Repair: Transmission, clutch packs, pathfinder

Question
I have a 2002 Pathfinder.When I engage the trans from park, there is a slight lapse before the trans engages the selected gear.Bought the vehicle secondhand & had  the trans serviced 2005.Always done it,doesnt seem to be getting any worse.Is this normal for the model ?

The transmission is building pressure and as long as you wait and do not romp on it when it is in the lapse between park and actually making the connection you should be ok.  I would, as a minimum, change the fluid.  Nissan uses a screen and not really a filter so you could get by with a fluid change.  That might softwn up the seals and help build pressure sooner with the pump and clutch packs.
