Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Maxima Transmission, nissan maxima, nissan transmission

Question
sometimes when i pull my transmission into drive it does nothing at all.  the colder it is outside the worse it is.  in the winter i have to put into nuetral for a few minutes while idling then pull it into gear and it works fine.  but what has me baffled is it has done it in the summer months.  i have changed the fluid and it is not burnt nor does the transmission slip.

Answer
AJ,

If the transmission fluid is good and you do not have the problem when the fluid is at operating temperature you need to have the transmission diagnosed.  There is a sensor that reads fluid temperature and a computer that shifts the transmission.  These need to be diagnosed with a speciality computer that reads Nissan transmission codes.  $100 buck diagnosis is worth the cost if it saves you from buying a transmission.
