Nissan Repair: Belts, spray lubricant, nissan pathfinder

Question
I got a 1998 nissan pathfinder the alt belt was squaking so i
put belt dressing on it and it squaked even more so i spayed
water on it and it stopped for about 6secs whats the problem
and how can i fix it?

Answer
Hi Cody -
The belt needs tightening. Proper tightness is about 1 inch of play. Also inspect it for frays and cracks. Might want to just replace it if you haven't done that yet.

Might want to use spray lubricant on the belt. It actually softens the rubber. Those belt dressing deals are bogus -

Hope this helps -
