Nissan Repair: 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA FRONT MOTOR MOUNT, nissan maxima, moving down the road

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GXE automatic.
125,000 miles.
I need to replace my front engine mount underneath which is located under the radiator. I also noticed that the mount has an sensor/connector attached to it.
I was looking at buying an aftermarket mount but they come with no sensor/connector. The front oem mount is costly. Can I install a aftermarket mount without the sensor?
Will it cause the check engine light to turn on if i don't have it connected it?
Your advise is appreciated.

Answer
Hector,

The engine mount is filled with ferro fluid.  That is, the mount has a black liquid in it and when the car is at idle the mount is soft and when the car is moving down the road an electric charge is applied causing the fluid to get hard.  This makes for a nice idle and when running the car handles well.  It would pay to get the correct motor mount.  I would go to rockauto.com or courtesyparts.com to save a buck.  I have a 2000 Maxima SE and have replaced the mounts with factory type units.
