Nissan Repair: 94 altima transmission, cv joints, grinding gears

Question
i just bought a 94 altima a few days ago and i think i am having problems with the transmission when i am accelerating sometimes it makes a sound like someone grinding gears like they mis-shitfted with a manual transmission, almost like a screeching sound. i dont think it sounds really bad, it only does it for a split second and then stops,  i am wondering if you have any ideas of what can be done to fix this before it gets too bad

Answer
Kevin,

It sounds like a Constant Velocity CV Joint to me or a bearing.  I would get the car up on a lift and put the transmission in neutral and rotate the wheels and inspect the wheel bearings and the CV Joints.  Email me back and let me know what you find.  Also, I have found that brake pads that drag can make this noise in certain break away conditions; like when the transmission shifts gears or when you first start moving.
