Nissan Repair: 2004 Nissan Maxima-, 2004 nissan maxima, jumper cables

Question
My battery on my car was dead due to living in las vegas and having my car parked for 3 wks in the heat.  I jump started my car with old jumper cables that werent labeled and when i connected them to the battery i noticed that they were backyard and they sparked.  Then i tried jump starting the car again with newer jumper cables but my still wont turn on.. Can you please tell me what i need to do to fix this problem.  (the cap to my hood fuse box is missing also) please help.  Thank you

Answer
Amy,

If the cables were connected backwards you probably blew the master fuses at the positive terminal.  I would get a fully charged battery first and replace it as well as the master fuses.  Next, check and replace any other fuses that have blown as a result.  Once you get the car running check to see if the alternator is blown.  Email me back if you need more information.
