Nissan Repair: Crankshaft position sensor faulty, 2006 nissan altima, crankshaft position sensor

Question
I have a 2006 Nissan altima which the computer says the crankshaft position sensor is out, the tech says it is it given the other problems we are experiencing. My only question is if you are looking a the car where is the sensor located.

I have the correct sensor and the time to change it.  Could you help?

Answer
Kelley,

The sensor is on the timing cover by the crankshaft.  I would get a Haynes Manual for photographs.  It makes it much easier and is only $20 bucks.  Also, your public library have tech books you can checkout.  The crank pulley on your Altima is on the passenger side.  Jack up the car and remove the passenger side tire and inner fenderwell and you will see it.
