QUESTION: I have a 99 Sentra GXE with 143,000 miles. It jerks, shakes and vibrates when I accelerate. The service engine soon light is on.
What could this be?

It is probably the mass airflow sensor.  Go to Autozone or Checker and get the code read for free and email me back what they say and the specific codes.  We'll go from there.

It also vibrates in park and at stops, but mainly during acclerating.

The cost depends on where you get it repaired and what you need replaced.  About $300 bucks for the part, at the dealer.  That is, if it is a MAF.  The engine shake is probably the engine mounts.  Try rockauto.com or courtesyparts.com for discount prices.  The dealer is way too much.  Go to Autozone or Checker and get the code read so we'll know for sure.  They do this for free...
