Nissan Repair: Front Wheel Hub Assy, front wheel bearing, wheel hub

Question
I have been told my front wheel bearing needs replacing on my 2004 Nissan Quest and my husband says he can do himself if he can find out the torque needed on the main bolt.  We have purchased the part needed as it came as an assembly? Can you help with the torque needed.

Answer
Hi Regina -

Usually that bearing needs to be pressed in with a special machine, and the old bearing removed the same way. If yiu purchased the entire hub assembly, then you are good to go.

If you are speaking of the center hub bolt, usually the proper tightness is 1/4 turn after the nut touches the washer, just enough so there is no play in the wheel.

Hope this helps
