Nissan Repair: Oil Coming into Radiator, radiator fluid, nissan serena

Question
I have a Nissan serena mini van 1995 2.0 diesel engine. The first problem i noticed was that it ran out. So i opened the radiator after allowing the vehicle to cool down, but even so when I open it, the contents in the radiator exploded in my face. I'm ok, but then I noticed that there was oil in the radiator along with the coolant. Can you help me because I can not determine where the oil leak is coming from and now the radiator is over flowing with oil.

HELP!!!!

Answer
Jay,

Signs indicate a blown headgasket.  You can have a compression check performed.  But, from oil in the water means a cracked head, block or a defective headgasket.  I would think headgasket since you say the overpressure.  There is a test that can look for CO in the radiator.  It is a liquid and a bellows that is used to draw air across the fluid in the sight glass.  If the fluid changes color you have CO in the radiator fluid and that means a blown headgasket...

Now, if you have an oil cooler and it is intergral with the radiator the cooler could have blown.  But, that does not explain the overheat/overpressure...  Email me back if you need more information.
