Nissan Repair: 98 Nissan Quest Shifing problems, nissan quest, transmission problem

My 98 Nissan Quest with 114k miles shifts ok from 1st to 2nd. However, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd,and 3rd to high, the rpm momentarily rise about 1,500 rpms before dropping to the normal level. Is this a shift solenoid problem, or a more serious transmission problem?

Yes, the solenoids are not shifting properly.  However, if this has gone on for some time the clutches will have to be replaced.  You are probably looking at rebuilding your transmission.  Cottman Transmission has been good to me.  Your choice to find a local shop that can diagnose and repair or rebuild your transmission.
