Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan truck, throttle position sensor, volt ohm meter

Question
i have recently purchased a 97 Nissan. It is in good shape and seems to work fairly well except that it seems to surge as it is picking up speed, and also at a cruising speed. It was REALLY bad during my test drive but the dealer was able to take care of most of the problem. Now, it does continue to accellerate, but you can feel this surge, probably worse at a lower RPM. I checked the plugs and appeared to be new. I did put a bottle of injection cleaner when i filled, about 50 miles ago. Do ou think it could be the injectors or do you have some other ideas on this truck?

thanks

Answer
Don,

The throttle position sensor or the distributor are the two most common problem related to surging on a Nissan.  Check the distributor for oil on the optics and get a digital volt ohm meter and check the values on the throttle position sensor.  A Haynes Manual would come in handy.  Also, check the engine codes.  Autozone or Checker will check the codes for free.
