Nissan Repair: 2002 pathfinder, oil levels, oil level

Question
i am currently on a five hour trip and within eight miles of my destination my engine started clacking loudly.  none of my engine lights came on.  i recently had the oil changed and thought perhaps they had not tightned everything, but oil levels seem fine.  i am literally on the road now.  please help.

Answer
Hi Brenda -

If your oil level is fine, then it looks like a lifter collapsed, or a rocker arm got stuck. What kind of oil was put in when you changed the oil?

Sometimes an additive will help, such as AT205, or similar that quiets engine noise.

What is your mileage? Your vehicle should be OK to drive, just ensure the oil level is OK, up to the second line on your dipstick.

Let me know -
