Nissan Repair: your frontier gauge problem, nissan frontier, ford dealer

Question
on 9/22/07 i see you asked about the gauges on your nissan frontier freezing and or zeroing out. I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier v6 4wd that i bought a month ago. I have the exact same problem right now with one addon---the o/d off light flashes just like the abs check light when i start the truck. this has been going on for three weeks and is getting worse and worse. Did cleaning the connector help? please take the time to respond if you have it because I am bieng misinformed everywhere. Thanks again.

Answer
Marcus,

The overdrive light is telling you something is wrong with the transmission.  The transmission is on another computer and you will need to go to a transmission shop to get the code read.  The ABS problem should be addressed by reading special codes too.  Normal code readers will not provide the ABS codes.  I would flush the brake fluid with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid first.  You can get this at the Ford dealer.  The other thing you can do is to check each wheel sensor and make sure there are no breaks in the lines.  If both the fluid has been flushed and the sensors and lines are good then reset the code by disconnecting the battery for five minutes.  If the code comes back then have the codes read.
