Nissan Repair: 350Z Straight-Six, controller area network, transmission mounts

Question
Hi,
I want to replace my engine with a V-12. What would I have to do under the hood to make room? The V12 is the exact same length as the six, hooks to the tranny ok, and hooks up ok. runs great. but it's a bit too wide. What parts of the engine bay can and can't I remove (air box, air conditioning, exhaust brackets, etc.)

Answer
Scott,

The issues will be hooking up the drivetrain like the engine mounts and transmission mounts.  The ECM has to be wired too. Remember that the car has a controller area network and all assessories are interlaced on the network and that includes airbags.  Everything in the engine compartment can be removed except the strut towers.  Bracing will have to be placed to support the body.  Remember that it is a uni-body and as such the strut towers will fold in on themselves if you do not install a brace.
