Nissan Repair: brake lights, fuse box, circuit tester

Question
brake lights dose not come on but the bulb is good what can i do to check what is worng?

Answer
Hi Clint -

If it is not the bulb, then it could be the brake switch or the fuse. The fuse box is located under driver's side dash, and should be marked "stop" or something to that effect. I did not get the year and model of your vehicle, so I am just giving you generic info.

If you have a light type circuit tester, you can track down the problem more accurately. First, test for power at the bulb socket. If there is power there, then it is the bulb. If there is no power, move to the fuse box and check power at both side of the fuse. If only one side has power, then replace the fuse. If it checks out OK, then check the terminals of the stop light switch, located above the brake pedal below dash.

One of these is defective.

Hope this helps -
