Nissan Repair: Nissan Stanza 1990 Air Vent Stuck in the Closed (Recirculation) Position, nissan stanza, automatic climate control

Question
QUESTION: How do you fix the air vent when it is stuck in the recirculation position?  The light works for that recirculation button but the air vents don't open.  I can't physically tell that the vents are not opened, but I cannot feel any air coming in when I'm driving with the recirulation button light off.

ANSWER: Pat,

If you drive with the drivers window down you should feel air from the vents, if the air door is not stuck in recycle.  The door for this is on the passenger side, above the blower case.  Remvoe the glovebox to get acess.  Then, remove the blower and you will see the blend door.

QUESTION: I do not feel the air with the driver's window down so it must be the blend door.  I haven't taken off the glovebox yet but if I have to manually open the blend door, what would I need to replace to make the recyle button work again?  Is there a motor that opens the blend door that might not be working or is the blend door typically stuck and once you manually loosen it, most likely it will work again?  Thank you for your quick and informative response, the first time.

Answer
Pat,

If you have the automatic climate control it is the motor that drives the door or the control unit itself.  The cheapest way to solve the problem is the purchase the motor that runs the blend door.  After replacement, if it does not work then it is the control. A wrecking yard is the cheapest solution to your problem for parts.
