Nissan Repair: Nissan Micra Ally will not start, malfunction indicator light, nissan micra

Question
My 1998 Mica has an intermittent fault. On occasions when we start it, the engine will turn over but not fire up.  The malfunction indicator light stays on with a steady light. If left for a period of time, even 2 or 3 days, it will start, but not this time.  Our local garage came out and could find no fault on their machine.  Can you help.

Answer
Valerie,

You are going to need the code to proceed.  That said, another code reader will be needed.  Some vehicles do not respond with all generic readers.  Other factors come into play like making sure the fuel pressure is in range and the plugs are firing.  I will need more information to make a diagnosis.  Really, it is usually spark or fuel and you will need to check for fuel pressure and then spark at the plugs.  The code would really be helpful since the car is trying to let you know what the problem is...
