Nissan Repair: Troubles, lvin, alternator

Question
Calvin,
I have several problems with my '96 max. In the past i had to press the throttle to start the car other times it wouldn't start up at all i had to wait in my car for hours and then it would start. it's not battery got it checked out. Might be the alternator but I've been asking around people say it's the starter or solenoid. What's the difference? I get the car jumped it's fine, i soon i turn it off everything goes lights, locks and alarm. My other problems are my rear driver window won't go up, i hear the motor going but to no success. I hope its just off the track. my truck won't close and the battery and brake light is on even though the alternator and battery are fine. That's it. I hope you tell something i really need it.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Victor -

Your no-start problem really seems like the battery to me. If you jump start it with another battery and it starts, it is the battery. Have you checked all the connections? If you turn on the headlights and turn the key to start, the lights should remain bright. If it shuts off, or dims, then that is the battery. If you jump start it and it is fine, it cannot be the starter (the solenoid is the device that drives the starter gear to the flywheel, and the starter is the motor that spins that gear). Can you tell me the process in which the alternator and battery was checked?

Your rear window seems that it is indeed off the track, however cannot be sure unless the panel is opened up.

Please get back to me -
