Nissan Repair: 95 Nissan Electrical Problem, aftermarket radio, altenator

Question
About a week ago I was driving and my Tach heat gauge and all the lights on the dash cluster just stopped working.  Only lights that would work was my hazzards, the headlights, and the tailights.  Problem has worsened to now it all will work for a while then it just drops and wont work again the truck will eventually die as if the battery was weak or as it isn't getting gas.  The battery was bad so I bought a new one and I got a new altenator hoping that was the problem but still the problem remains.  I've drove it to and from work just 4 times since I put the new bat. and alt. in it and it was only done it once more but I haven't drove it much cause I don't want to be stranded.  Most people are telling me it sounds like a short somewhere, any ideas?

Thanks,
Gideon

Answer
Gideon,

The instrument lights could be the dimmer or if you have an aftermarket radio wired incorrectly that could cause it too.  Now, the car not charging means the master fuse at the positive battery cable is probably blown.  So, check the wiring to the alternator and check the fuses.  Email me back if you need more.
