Nissan Repair: Nissan Sentra loss of Power, nissan sentra, altenator

Question
My son has a 1999 Nissan Sentra, He had been noticing a loss of power, and just recently he was driving home from work and his car shut off, no lights, no radio, and when he turned the key he got nothing.  I'm wondering if it could be the altenator, or if not, what could it be.

Answer
Hi Kimberly -

I would check the battery first. These cars need a strong battery to operate well, and sounds like it went dead on you.

Replace the battery, check all connections for tightness and corrosion (clean if necessary), and finally have the alternator checked (Check the alternator only after the battery is replaced).

You should be good to go after that -

Hope this helps -
