Nissan Repair: 91 nissan sentra xe, nissan sentra, t touch

Question
QUESTION: I have a 91 Nissan Sentra XE it has been sitting for awhile before I got it. It starts good but doesn't fire on the 2nd cylinder I've got alot of new parts in it and it has good spark and compression and fuel going to it but it doesn't seem to want to fire. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them. Thank You

ANSWER: Hi Matt -

One question.
What was the testing process that had determined that it was the 2nd cylinder not firing?

Does the vehicle constantly miss, or only sometimes?

QUESTION: Hello Calvin, the process I used was pulling off the wire while the car was running. I then pulled the spark plug out and found that it was soaked in unburned gas and it was really black from carbon. The plugs are new and it didn't seem like it helped out at all. I took off the camshaft cover and didn't notice anything wrong. To answer your question it doesn't seem to miss when its first started but right after it misses, if you don't touch the gas pedal it seems ok but if you do it starts to miss.

Answer
Hi Matt -

Have you checked the ignition wire also? If it misses only under load it could be that wire. Change them all. I am also assuming you replaced the fouled spark plug as well. Might want to check the distributor cap for carbon tracking. If that has not been changed in a while, replace it and the rotor.

Hope this helps -
