Nissan Repair: nissan 200sx automatic, nissan 200sx, 1995 nissan 200sx

i currently bought a 1995 nissan 200sx automatic. the guy said there was something wrong with it. i put a battery in it and tried to start it and it just goes click. it doesnt even turn over. he said there is a new starter on it. what else could it be? also when it is in park it will still roll.

Hi Chris -

The issue of non starting has to be either the starter or battery. The only other thing I can think of is if the engine is frozen. Have you ever seen that engine run?

I am assuming the battery you installed is new? If so, check all connections for tightness.

Take a 12V light tester and touch the probe to the large starter terminal. Have someone turn the ignition key as if to start it. If there is power, then replace the starter.

As for the trans - looks like it needs an overhaul. Engaging in Park does not lock the gears
