Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Question Not Starting, spark plug wire, nissan repair

Question
I tried to start my 1997 Nissan Quest this morning and all it would do is turn over. Nothing else.

Some notes.

1. Battery is strong.
2. Cranked for 15 seconds - nothing.
3. Held down gas pedal and cranked for 15 seconds - Nothing
4. No smell of gas.

NOW....

I noticed that the red security light next to the steering wheel was on. I don't think this is the usual case. I found this thread http://en.allexperts.com/q/Nissan-Repair-825/nissan-quest-1997-starting.htm

So I tried to disable the security to no avail. I purchased a kit to disable the security be running a wire to ground.  I think this worked but the red security light is still on.

Car still not working.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ed

Answer
Hi Ed,

Can you do one test and get back to me?

Pull a spark plug wire and insert a screwdriver inside the boot until it wedges against the terminal inside. Hold the shaft of the driver about 1/4" away from any metal surface of the engine while someone cranks the engine. Please do not touch any metal surface while doing this.

Let me know if there is spark jumping between the metal sufaces.

Also, can you tell me if the car was acting up before this incident?

Thanks, let me know
