Nissan Repair: hey, nissan skyline r31, skyline radio

Question
I drive a 1989 Nissan Skyline 3litre straight straight sixand my problem started when i went to get a radio fitted as the original was removed a long time ago. We coulnt find the power source from the cbles that were already there. When the electrician finally got the power source there were some cables that were joined together and we had dicontinued the joins thinking thery had no use since there was no radio. So the radio we had connected only fuctioned from the garage to my house then my car would'nt start so i removed the radio. Now the car starts and all is well but the fuel consumption is hectic and sometimes it takes a long time to shift from first gear and when it does the counter will be going toward 4000 r/min. If you can help me and tell me which coulors i should join back together i will be very greatfull

Answer
Ressur,

The wires need to be put back to the way they were.  There is a strange thing Nissan does with floating grounds.  So, reconnect the wires the way they were and get a connector that adapts from the factory wiring to an aftermarket head unit and you should be fine.  Here is a link to a video of a 1989 Skyline radio wiring job and the second is the manual.
