Nissan Repair: Belt squeals loud, nissan maxima se, nissan maxima

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima Se with 201,000 miles on it. When I start the car in the morning the engine starts to squeal really loud. When the engine warms up the squeal goes away. Is this a bad or loose belt?

Hi Bill -

You are correct. It appears that one or more of your drive belts are loose. Please inspect each one (if you have A/C, I think you have 3 of them) for fraying and also if the sides are shiny, be a good idea to replace them all.

If they are in good condition, then just tightening will do the trick.
