transmission rebuilt at 120K in June 2008, replaced battery in Aug 2008, car won't start today so took battery back to Walmart and they said it was dead. Gave me a new one, came home and reinstalled and started up just fine. 6 hours later car would crank but had to turn over several times to get it to start. Could it be the starter? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Susan

Sounds like the alternator is not performing properly.  I would take the car to Autozone or Checker for a free electrical inspection.  They will test it for free and let you know if the alternator is defective.  If the car turned over like you said it would not be the starter.
