Nissan Repair: dashboard, haynes manual, optical plastic

Question
QUESTION: i have a 2007 navara/frotier could you please advise if the colour of the dashboard and radio lights can be changed. If so could you please instruct me on how to do it

thank you

ANSWER: Shane,

The lights are coloured by lenses and optical plastic.  You can change the color to another one but you need to purchase bulbs that are all the same color.  Nissan uses different bulb sizes in different locations.  The ones in the instrument cluster are much larger than the little ones in the airocnditioner controls.

thank you.

Answer
Shane,

A Haynes Manual is the best purchase for diagrams and where screws are located.  Bassically, you are going to have to remove the knee bolster under the steering wheel and then the two bolts that hold the wheel up to get the steering wheel to drop enough to get the instrument cluster out.  There are screws and clips for the cluster trim and then four screws that hold the cluster.  Then pull out until you can get behind it to disconnect the harness.  Now, the rest is just replacement of bulbs to get the desired effect.  The center console is about removing the trim, console and center trim to get to the actual controls.  Bulbs are much smaller.  Radio Shack or your local bulb supplier for those bulbs.  The console shift is easy since you will have that out.  The radio, if stock is a pain since it has to be disassembled to replace the illumination bulbs.  If you have an airbag disconnect the battery before you remove anything since you do not want it going off or setting an error code.  When done reconnect the battery.
