Nissan Repair: Neutral Safety Switch, nissan sentra, haynes manual

Question
My 1992 Nissan Sentra will not start and it appears to be the Neutral Safety Switch. Can you tell me where it is located - automatic transmission - and can I bypass it or will have to replace it? I am the only person that drives the car.

Answer
Roland,

The shift quadrant is on the transmission as is the neutral safety switch.  You could bypass it but you know that it will start in gear if you do so your choice.  Get a Haynes Manual for the wiring harness colors.  Basically, you will cut to wires off the neutral safety switch and solder them together.  Insulate them well and you are done.  Otherwise, it is like $100 bucks for the switch.
