Nissan Repair: 1990 Nissan truck will not start in park, neutral safety switch, nissan truck

Question
Hello,
My truck will not start in park, it will start in neutral.  I am thinking that it is some sort of neutal sensor or something like that..

What could cause this?

where is it located?

apprx. price- etc?

the truck is a 1990 model truck, 4 cylinder.  150'000 miles.

Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Chris -

First thing I would check is the neutral safety switch. This is located on the housing of the transmission, should have one or two wires connected to it. Sometimes it is an adjustment of the linkage, so you might want to check that out too.

Costs vary, depending on the access, however the part itself is inexpensive. Entire job should be below $100.

Hope this helps -
