Nissan Repair: defrost not working, automatic climate control, nissan sentra

Question
QUESTION: The mode control no longer changes the air distribution and I cannot get the defrost to work. Also, even with the A/C switch deactivated, the air coming from the dash vents is chilled (like the A/c is on)

ANSWER: Don,

I do not know the year or model.  Also, if you have automatic air or manual air.  Anyway, if it is automatic climate control it is probably the control module.  If not then it is probably the vacuum motor or if it is equipped with a cable the cable or actuator is broken.  Email me back with the year and model and we can research further.

QUESTION: My apologies. This is for a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE. The previous owner had a quote from a mechanic to replace an A/C sensor, I was trying to find all the options. Thanks again for taking the time to research this.

Answer
Don,

Sounds like the airconditioner switch is defective since it the air did not cut off and the blend door is not working.  So, that must be what they mean when they are talking about the sensor.  I would pull the control panel and observe the operation of the blend door.  That is the one that runs the air from the floor to the vents and to the dash.  My bet is the control is defective.  If not check out the blend door motor that you can see with the panel removed.
