Instructions on how to replace thermostat in a 1997 Nissan Maxima

Hello -

Located the lower radiator hose and follow it to the engine block. Remove the hose to expose the water outlet. The thermostat is located in that outlet. I think it is 3 10MM bolts that hold the water outlet. Undo those screws and everything should come out. Replace the thermostat and gasket (o-ring), and reassemble in reverse order of removal.

Run the engine to operating temperature and check circulation to ensure the thermostat is opening. Best way is to feel each hose. If both upper and lower are hot, then you are good to go.
