Nissan Repair: Infiniti M45, dot3 fluid, nissan infiniti

Question
My ABS,VDC and Slip light have all illuminated at the same time during start up and stay on, I remember this happening before but cannot remember the remedy, believe it had to do with brake adjustment??

Answer
Bill,

If the brakes are within range and not too thin have the brake fluid flushed.  I use Ford High Performance Brake Fluid since it has twice the boiling point of regular DOT3 fluid.  You have to use DOT3 fluid since synthetic and DOT4 will screw up your braking system.  Then, disconnect the battery for five minutes and it should reset the code.  Otherwise, have the system pressure bled and the light reset.  Your choice.  That is the most common problem is the fluid getting dirty and old fluid gets water in it.  When the system is not in control with old brake fluid the light will come on.  Also, if everything is good, including the brake fluid, and the light is still on you might have another problem.  If this is the case have the ABS code read using a Consult II scan tool or one that works with Nissan/Infiniti systems.
