Nissan Repair: D150 3.9 VS 5 SPEED, jerks, clutch

Question
the tranny makes a bad knock sound in with clutch out and it tries to move but it jerks badly clutch in it sounds fine any ideas before i tear into it? thanks

Either the counter shaft is broken or the main shaft, first gear is blown.  Now, you could have trashed bearings and that would allow enough room for the gears to skip and make noise too.  But, that would mean that first is blown in either case.
