Nissan Repair: Maxima dies after warm-up, fuel pressure regulator, nissan maxima

Question
My wife's 89 Nissan Maxima starts and runs fine while cold. Once the engine warms it begins to run rough and then die.  It will not run smooth again until engine cools.  Any ideas?

Answer
Jerry,

This sounds like the fuel pressure regulator, a fuel filter or the injectors themselves.  You will need to run a fuel pressure test as well as a leak down test to verify that the injectors are performing properly.  Get a Haynes Manual to verify the fuel pressure and to make sure you know how to check the injectors for leakage and minimum and maximum fuel pressure.
