Nissan Repair: 2003 pathfinder stalling ,codes present, crankshaft position sensor, proper signal

Question
My Pathfinder has a stalling issue. First time, after pulling away from stop light.4x4 light came on?! after restarting.  2nd time same thing. 3rd time stalled while idling in traffic and engine light came on with 4x4 light and was harder to restart.Local garage found codes  PO 335 and PO 725. They roadtested after clearing codes but could not duplicate and were kind of stumped as it did not point to a certain problem and did not want to change parts needlessly.  What do you think?      Thanks

Answer
Pat,

The first is the crankshaft position sensor.  Yours should have a distributor and if so, I would be doing a tuneup as in cap, rotor, and plugs.

The second code is the engine speed signal and that leads me to think the distributor is not sending the proper signal.  So, do that tuneup and see if your problem codes stay gone.  Be sure to use NGK or Nippondenso plugs, a factory cap and rotor are the best choice.  Nissan makes good stuff.  Aftermarket caps and rotors are of inferior quality compared to Nissan...
