Nissan Repair: 88 Nissan Sentra, nissan sentra, blown fuse

Question
QUESTION: i bought a 88 nissan sentra and it drove perfect the night i got it but when i got it home and parked it for the night the next morning it would not crank i checked for fire to the plugs and distributor and it has none if it was your what would you do????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

ANSWER: Josh,

If it turns over but does not start I would be looking at the basics like a defective fuel pump.  But, since you say there is no spark I would be looking at an aftermarket alarm that cuts power to the coil.  Otherwise, your choices are a coil, the transistorized ignition, or the distributor itself.  Also, be sure to check the ignition circuit for a blown fuse.

QUESTION: i got the car to give spark now and there is another problem i couldnt get the car to crank and then i started hearing a click in the throttle body so went to inspecting it and noticed a humming so i was thinking maybe the injector was stuck open so i can put some thrust in it and it will crank but just untill the thrust runs out there was gas coming from fuel line because i took it off and put it in a coke bottle the fuel had a little something in it that resembled small bubbles but not a whole lot of it in a coke bottle there was 1 1/2 of gas and 1/16 was junk...............  can you help me please

Answer
Josh,

If the stuff coming from the gas tank is contaminated you have found your problem.  I would change the fuel filter and make sure no injectors are stuck open or clogged.  Basically, remove the injectors and clean with carburetor cleaner and reinstall, with new o-rings and you should be fine.  That is, after you change the fuel filter.
