Nissan Repair: 1998 nissan pathfinder 4X4 smells, oil pressure switch, pathfinder 4x4

Question
Recently when I use the 4X4 on my truck there is a smell like some type of oil burning. The truck runs fine it is just present after I have used the 4X4. any suggestions??

Hi Peter -

First thing I would check is the valve cover gaskets. If they are old and brittle, they will not hold the oil splash from the valves Look at the gasket/engine/exhaust manifold joint and see if you can find any evidence of it leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

The other thing it could be is the oil pressure switch. Are you losing oil? Might want to check if that is leaking as well. Car must be running when you check this. Evidence are oil spots on the ground.
