Nissan Repair: door glass off track, hi mike, putty knife

Question
Hello Calvin. My 1995 Maxima rear door glass seems to have come off track. I can lift the glass by hand and, when I activate the switch, hear the motor. I sounds/feels like it is working correctly. My question is what is the proper way to remove the inner door panel to see what came loose? I would like to do it so I can re-install it properly. Thanks for your help.  Mike

Answer
Hi Mike -

The rear door panel has to be removed. It is held to the door by a couple of screws, and some "snap in" plastic fittings. These can be removed by carefully inserting a putty knife or chisel and turning it. Try not to use a screwdriver, as you may damage the panel. Be sure to disconnect the harness for the power windows and the linkage for the door handle.

Once the panel is removed, you can access the inside of the door. Remove the plastic protector, and a flashlight will help you look inside. Look for a fallen track, or perhaps it is rusted out track.

Hope this helps -
