Nissan Repair: nissan starting and instrument panel, nissan 200sx, 1998 nissan 200sx

Question
I have a 1998 nissan 200sx, with a 1.6 engine , manual transmission that i need to know if the car will crank and run without the instrument cluster and it's wiring harness.
The car broke down on an interstate highway. when i came to tow it home someone had stolen the instrument cluster and starter as well.
if so can the car be driven without the instrument cluster and wiring harness or be modified to do so?

Answer
Hi Johnny -

Sorry to hear about your car.

As long as the ignition switch is intact, you may start the vehicle (assuming the starter is replaced). Did you check to see that the terminal is still plugged into the ignition switch? It should be if they did not touch the steering column.

I can guide you to hot wire the car if necessary, let me know.

Thanks
