Nissan Repair: 240sx idle then dead, fuel pressure gauge, air intake hose

Question
Here's my problem: first, my fuel pump fuse would always burn out after I cranked the engine, so I replaced the relays. Now my car idles for a bit, but then it slowly dies down until completely dead. Also when I try pressing on the accelerator, the car just dies faster. I would really appreciate it if you can help me to fix this problem. Thank you.

Answer
Kirk,

First, check the fuel pressure.  That is, get a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up and see if the pump is delivering the proper pressure.  If the fuel pressure is fine check the air meter to see if it is working properly.  Get a Haynes Manual for the process.  Also, make sure the air intake hose, the one from the air meter to the throttle body, is cracked or the hose clamps are loose.  Unmetered air will kill the engine when you step on the gas.
