Nissan Repair: 300zx wont start when warm, mass airflow sensor, intake hose

Question
QUESTION: well the car starts and runs fine, but if you shut it down after about a half hour of running it won't start.  it just turns over but doesn't sound like its firing.  someone told me it was the distributor so i replaced it with one from the junkyard but nothing changed.  i suppose the junkyard one could be bad too but i'm not sure

ANSWER: Adam,

Pull the distributor and disassemble the distributor and see if it has oil on the optical shutter wheel and pickup and receiver.  If it does replace it.  Otherwise, email me back and we'll go from there.  If it is not the distributor check the fuel pressure and see if the injectors are leaking.  That could cause the no start when warm condition.

QUESTION: well the distributor seemed to be fine, and the fuel pressure seemed fine and there didnt seem to be any leaking injectors.  any other ideas?  could the coil be any part of the problem?

Answer
Adam,

Other causes could be the ignitor on the ignition coil.  A little electric box that allows for coil discharge.  Or, there is the mass airflow sensor that can overheat.  Do check the intake hose from the airflow sensor and the throttle body to make sure the hose is not cracked or the clamps are loose.
