Nissan Repair: 1997 Altima wont start, nissan altima, mighty long time

Question
Hello,
I have a 1997 Nissan Altima and it has been sitting idle for about 6 months. We went to start the vehicle and put in a new battery, but when we turn the ingnition switch, the car makes a ticking noise like the starter is trying to engage, but it won't start. We had the starter tested twice and were told it was okay, but took it to a local guy who said it was bad and had it rebuilt.  We installed the rebuilt starter, and are getting the same problem.  We now have a new battery and rebuilt starter and still have the same problem. Could the problem be the ignition switch?

Answer
Hi Tracey -

First of all, can you try to turn the engine manually? Use a large socket and extension and grab on to the damper. This is a mighty long time for the car to remaim without starting, I am thinking perhaps the engine is frozen a bit.

Also ensure all battery connections are tight and clean -

Please get back to me.

Thank you
